The unbroken record of ownership and licence rights running from every input used to build a model through to the model's outputs — the analogue of chain of title in real property, or clearance in music and film.
The position
This is the unwritten layer of AI in finance, and it is not a securities question. When an autonomous agent generates a profitable strategy, ownership is a joint authorship and derivative works problem with eighty years of entertainment doctrine behind it — session musicians, sampling, ghostwriting, work for hire. The people who understand agentic finance mostly lack IP backgrounds, and the IP lawyers are mostly not in finance. The intersection is empty and the questions are already live.
