Model provenance
The verifiable record of what a model is: training data and its licence terms, base model lineage, fine-tuning corpus, versioned weights or endpoint identity, and the transformations applied between raw data and deployed artefact.
The position
You cannot clear a music sample without chain of title, and nobody can currently establish chain of title for a trading model. That is not a technical gap, it is a rights gap wearing technical clothing. An allocator running diligence on an AI-driven manager in 2027 will ask for model provenance and receive a paragraph of prose, because no standard form of that representation exists. Whoever writes the first defensible provenance representation and warranty will set the market term for a decade.
